My last month electric bill was $22.09. I have no air conditioning, turn off ALL unnecessary lights, unplug small appliances when not in use. If you have any other suggestions I would be glad to hear them. My electric supplier tried to force me to pay what they said “I should have used” I did have to pay them but the OHIO PUCO got most of the money back for me. I grow much of my own vegetables and only eat chicken, turkey and sometimes pork. I sometimes envy the Amish their life style. Thanks for doing your part.

I envy you not having to use A/C. I live in Texas and during the summer there is no way I could live without it but for the fall & winter when the temp drops below 80 its so nice not to spend $250 a month!

hey Alberta…other ways to save…put in florestent light bulbs…if you are worried about the mercury in them you can but more expensive light bulbs that last even longer and don’t have the murcery in them. you can aalso but foam for your electrical outlets…these go on the outlets that are on the exterior of your home…prventing any air from going in/out. Weatherization strips for your exterrior doors(and doors to rooms that you are not planning to heat/cool)can help stop any losses and save you $. and ofcourse…if you have the cash…you can always replace older appliances with updated ones thatare more energy efficient.
you can also have an energy audit done on your home…there might even be state incentive programs…i live in CT so am not sure about where you are.
There are some great books at your library thatcan help you some more…so give it a look see! hope this has helped some
