I agree with all comments . I want to walk or ride my bike but the miles seems to long. Plus there is alot of traffic on the streets. Does anyone have any suggestions.

I hear all these comments and respect them. When I lived in a big city this was possible....but circumstances of moving to a small mountain town doesn't allow for NOT having a car. And there are so many countries where you can't live without cars. Villages are small in Europe and you some times have to drive far to get to the market...I experienced this in our current very small town.

I feel the same. I got a license when I was 18, but I have never owned, nor plan on owning a car.

For one, they are too expensive to upkeep. I would rather buy food than spend money on a piece of metal and plastic.

A second reason I will not own a car is because it kills, diminishes life satisfaction of, and shortens life spans of living things. It can kill passing animals who simply want to live; it diminishes the satisfaction of my own life by lessening my ability to walk and move; and, it shortens my life span (healthwise) and the life span of anything that absorbs or breathes the chemicals pouring out of it.

My third reason is connected back to your idea of being human. I have searched for more natural ways of doing things, while trying to live in the modern world. It is hard being a college student with these ideas in mind. Of course, I am starting to buy organic, and local foods- even if they are expensive. I bike to my summer job in town. I also am trying to
'live by the sun', which means I try not to use artificial lighting. When the sun goes down, it's dark, and it stays that way until the sun comes up. I feel my circadian rhythm efficiency and my respect for the earth ha increased because of this.

My college is about 2 1/2 hours away (driving) from my hometown, and I someday want to be able to go home without using a car. What would people have done when we didn't have the glaciers melting, hmm?

I am also never a driver, although I'm occasionally a passenger. Bicycles are the most efficient form of transportation we've ever produced, and I love to walk.

I admire you. It is a shame that majority of people feel the need to drive. My family and I have been self propelled for almost 4 years now.

Same. If I can't walk/bike/or take the bus to it, I just won't go to it.
I'd rather walk.
