I decided not to have my own biological children. Instead, I have been a foster mom, a stepmom, and an adoptive mom. There are plenty of kids who need an adult who cares about them.
I LOVE this post. It seems to me that the elephant in the room when it comes to the environment is that there are just too many people on this planet. But we’re all too squeamish to say it out loud. And just because you don’t reproduce doesn’t mean you can’t have children in your life.
Yes YES YES!
China did the right thing with the one child policy. We need to do it in the “west”.
It’s always a shock as we homeschool and the Christian homeschoolers tend to have 5 to 10+ children per family!
Every child, ever person over here consumes vast amounts of energy and food and creates so much waste. Does it really make us happier have more and more people?
It’s theft of resources – all stolen from future generations. We gobble it up now – and leave them pollution, toxic air and water and waste galore.
It’s actually an 8 part thing (You Tube limits and all) but it’s WELL worth it. Links to the next video appear in the yellow block at the bottom of the one that’s playing. Don’t get too hung up trying to understand the math in the first part – he sort of blows past it like everyone can just grasp it in the way a physics professor would, but it all becomes really clear as it goes along.
