For people doing laundry for one person per week consider hanging your laundry to dry. Can easily be done in apartment and takes less than twelve hours max for results. Saves energy on electric drier and makes the apartment smell nice too. Sixty years ago my mother used to hang the laundry outside–and coined the term (to me, anyway) “The solar clothes drier.”

were do you live? when i am hanging the clothes inside it takes 24 hours! lol now back in AZ it would take maybe 1 hour on a nice hot day. heehee. but here in maine, if it doesn’t rain on your clothes it is humid and takes hours and hours outside. now we have a line in the basement because it is so cold outside the stuff just doesn’t dry. still i love hanging up the clothes! we are having a nice warm day today (59) and so i am hanging the sheets outside.

In the winter we kill two birds with one stone by hanging the clothes near the heaters- it makes the room less dry and speeds up the drying process so you don’t get that “24 hour damp” smell. We keep the heat pretty low, but it works any way.
