Gather up all those little hotel soaps and the too-thin-to-grab soap ends and one of those mesh plastic bags used for garlic from the supermarket. If it has a sharp metal clip on one end, turn it inside out. Dump all those tiny soap bits in the bag, twist the top and fold it over, then secure the whole works with a couple of rubber bands. Now you have a really good self-lathering scrubber. I keep one hanging by the hose faucet in the garden, as well as at the kitchen sink.

Great idea! I always feel guilty throwing away those little mesh bags…now I’ll make soap scrubbers out of them.

Skip the mesh bag. Simply wet the sliver, then wet a new bar of soap, rub them together a little, and let them dry. They’ll almost always fuse into a larger bar, and the sliver will just get completely used up. I’ve been doing this for decades … and learned it from my grandmother.
(If they don’t fuse the first time, just try again-sometimes the sliver has to be thin and soft enough to fit the shape of the new bar.)

I just wet the new bar of soap and the sliver of soap and smash them together. The next day when you get into the shower the new bar and sliver are dry and fused together. So you use the new bar of soap to grasp the sliver and you don’t even need a bag.

I love this idea, I always end up with those little too-thin-to-grab pieces of soap that I always end up throwing away—-now I know how I can actually use them and help the environment as well as my pocket. Thank you!

I’ll go ya one step better… Stop using soap! (well except for hand washing and a little bit for the obvious smelly places). A year ago I had a bad bout of eczema and one suggestion was to stop using soap because it dries your skin. I tried it and voila! A year later and I’ve used only about half a bar for the essentials. My skin looks great and I don’t ever have to use lotion! And believe me, you get plenty clean with just water.
