Running your washing machine on a cold water cycle slashes your energy bills. Nearly 90% of the electricity used by a washing machine is for heating the water.
washing machines do not heat their own water, the hot water comes from your water heater. instead try turning down your water heater and have luke warm water instead of piping hot

How do I research washing machines that have cold water washing cycles in Britain? So far, I have had little success in finding any machine on the market that does this!

I’ve heard that the detergents used today really do not need hot water at all.
